Why do we need to use a variety of teaching strategies when teaching sex education? Which ones work best, and why? What can go wrong, and what can we do about it? This training will help instructors answer all of these questions, and feel more competent in delivering engaging and interactive sex education.
Training Hub
The Sex Education Collaborative Training Hub lists trainings for sex educators, facilitators, and other professionals on best practices for sharing important information with clients and the public. From teaching anatomy inclusively to effectively addressing bias in the classroom to addressing racial justice and equity in sex education, the Training Hub includes trainings, technical assistance, and policy support from state, regional, and national leaders in the field of sex education.

What is an evidence-based intervention (also known as evidence-based program) anyway? You may know the definition—a specific kind of programming that has been evaluated to show behavior change—but what does that really mean? Evidence-based interventions and programs can expand or strengthen the programming you deliver in your community. Explore what evidence-based interventions are, what makes them different from other kinds of programs, and learn some of the basics for using evidence-based interventions effectively. Complete this course at your own pace.

Working Effectively with Adolescents
This workshop will help sex education instructors use research on adolescent social, cognitive, and biological development to improve the way they communicate with adolescents. Participants will learn techniques for engaging with adolescents and building buy-in to messages about behavior.

It's Elementary: Family Life Lesson Plans for Grades K-3
This interactive workshop will allow participants to increase their comfort and knowledge about age-appropriate sexual development in young children and learn the skills they need to effectively implement lesson plans in their districts. The importance of partnering with parents and school administrators to build support for family life education for young children will be addressed. This workshop can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your group, school or agency. All content is aligned to the National Sexuality Education Standards, the National Teacher Preparation Standards for Sexuality Education, and the Professional Learning Standards for Sex Education.

LGBTQ Issues in Schools: Celebrating and Supporting Diversity
LGBTQ Issues in Schools: Celebrating and Supporting Diversity is designed for middle and high school health professionals to increase their knowledge of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) issues and provides information on how to make the school environment more inclusive for all students.
Format/platform:
- Online Learning Management System (Canvas e-learning), hosted by Rutgers University
- Six-hours of total contact time utilizing videos, podcasts, instructional games, discussion boards, written assignments, presentations, readings, and visual animations
- Asynchronous

All content is aligned to the National Sexuality Education Standards, the National Teacher Preparation Standards for Sexuality Education, the Professional Learning Standards for Sex Education, and the Areas of Responsibility and Competencies for Health Education Specialists.

Policy topics include primarily sexual health education, sexual and reproductive health rights, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion and affirmation. MOASH works alongside communities to address their unique concerns and needs. Support may include technical assistance, training, and resources.
