Training Hub

The Sex Education Collaborative Training Hub lists trainings for sex educators, facilitators, and other professionals on best practices for sharing important information with clients and the public. From teaching anatomy inclusively to effectively addressing bias in the classroom to addressing racial justice and equity in sex education, the Training Hub includes trainings, technical assistance, and policy support from state, regional, and national leaders in the field of sex education.

Engaging Commercially Sexually Exploited Youth in Conversations About Sexual Health 

My Life My Choice (MLMC) and Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) have merged their respective expertise in commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and sexuality education to create an evidence, trauma, and survivor-informed training designed to help a wide range of youth service providers use intentional and inclusive language to begin conversations with young people about sex and sexuality that reflects the realities of their lives. "They Want Me to Teach What?!" Stepping into the Sex Educator Role

This full-day training is for educators who are newly tapped to teach sex education to teach them the necessary foundational skills. We will cover group rights, setting the classroom tone, managing potential challenges, establishing appropriate boundaries, and exploring personal values as they relate to teaching about sexuality. Stellar Sexual Health Education facilitator training

This facilitator training enables facilitators to provide excellent sexual health education to youth and adults AND to "stellarize" other curricula so it is more affirming, accessible, and trauma-informed while adhering to local and state restrictions. This facilitator training includes strategies for guiding a well-rounded exploration of whole people, especially when cultural norms might challenge scientific and psychological reality.

Learn how to facilitate in ways that are intentionally trauma-informed, antioppressive, and accessible to people with various learning styles and abilities. Stellar Sex Ed facilitator training can help facilitators of any curriculum, even in strictly regulated Tennessee public schools, create a more trauma-informed, inclusive experience for students.

  • Learn how to engage participants' imagination and actively encourage exploration and curiosity.
  • Find out what curriculum, facilitator, and administration characteristics enhance racial equity in sex ed--and why that is important.
  • Learn to think about human inner and outer space from new perspectives, free from shame and fear tactics.

Trauma-Responsive Practices in Sex Ed

Trauma-Responsive Practices in Sex Education will provide participants with information about the prevalence and impact of trauma on the brain and behavior, including the limitations of how trauma is assessed. Utilizing a trauma-responsive approach means that a program, organization, or system “realizes the widespread impact of trauma and understands potential paths for recovery; recognizes the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, staff, and others involved with the system; and responds by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices, and seeks to actively resist re-traumatization” (SAMHSA). This training will lead sex educators through content knowledge and applicable best-practices for taking a trauma-responsive approach within their classrooms and organizations, including the role trusted adults play in creating an environment conducive to resilience and healing. This training is intended for anyone implementing sexual health education with young people and the supervisors that support them.

Barriers to Abortion Access for Michigan Minors

Unplanned pregnancies are challenging for any population, but particularly for adolescents. When dealing with issues like pregnancy and abortion, teens are often denied the tools to make informed and autonomous decisions. This training will work with participants to identify and set aside individual judgments in order to provide unbiased support to pregnant adolescents. The training will also cover mandatory parental involvement laws, judicial bypass, and how to help minors navigate the judicial bypass system.
